The remains of educationalist R.I.T. Alles who passed away on Thursday, is currently lying at his residence down Kuruppu Lane in Borella.
R.I.T. Alles passed away on Thursday evening at his residence in Borella. Alles was eighty one years old at the time of his demise.
A large crowd gathered today to pay their last respects to the late R.I.T. Alles. The final rites of R.I.T. Alles are scheduled to be performed at the Borella Cemetery on Monday.
Born on October 3, 1932 in Galle, R.I.T. Alles was an old boy of St. Alosyius College, Galle and St. Anthony’s College, Kandy. He began his professional career as a teacher and spearheaded a revolution in the Sri Lankan education sector.
R.I.T. Alles was the Founding Principal of D.S.Senanayake College and was also the Founder of the Gateway College.
He served as the principal of Royal College, Colombo as well as the State Secretary for the Ministry of Education from 1989 to 1993.
R.I.T Alles was married to Rohini Alles and was a loving father of three sons, namely Parliamentarian Tiran Alles, Dr. Harsha Alles and Malik Alles.
