The Central Environmental Authority has identified up to 200 buses that use horns that did not comply with the accepted standards.
Commissioner General of the Central Environmental Authority, Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma said that steps were taken to remove the horns from the relevant buses. The buses had been identified by observations carried out in several areas in Colombo. The observations revealed that several private buses had installed horns that did not comply with the accepted standards. The Commissioner General made a request to bus drivers that such horns be removed from buses immediately.
He said that legal action will be taken in the future, against buses that do not comply with regulation set for vehicle horns.
