Religious events to invoke blessings on President and country

A special Dhamma sermon took place on Saturday to mark the President being awarded the Chair of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, the President’s birthday and anniversary of assuming of office.

The religious event took place at the Ruwanveli Maha Seya to invoke blessings on the President and the country. The religious ceremony commenced subsequent to President Mahinda Rajapaksa extending an invitation to the Maha Sangha.

The ceremony was organised by the Atamasthana Venerable Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero and the Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanveli Maha Seya, Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero.

The alms for the Maha Sangha who attended the ceremony was presented  on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, an afternoon meal for over 1200 monks was presented at the Sannipata Hall at the premises of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi on Sunday, to invoke blessings on the President and the country. A group including the Aggamaha Panditha, Venerable Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thero were present.
