Parliamentarian Arjuna Ranatunga says that the weak polices adopted by the government in winning over the people of the North is the reason for international interference. The MP made this observation while attending a function organised for the commencement of a cricket match at the Aluthgama public grounds on Monday.

Arjuna Ranatunga further stated:
Personally, I am not against holding the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in this country
“Personally, I am not against holding the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in this country. Can we justify the expenditure incurred in the whole process? Before this summit came to Sri Lanka I said that we need to handle this carefully. We saw the manner in which the British Prime Minister acted while visiting Jaffna while he was here to attend the summit. This is our country. We cannot let others poke their fingers in to our matters even though we are in the opposition. We need to protect our identity. But who put us in this position? It is our government. Because as a government, they failed to win over the people of the North. We faced the repercussions of this failure in the recent past.”
