Moto GP World Champion Marc Marquez set the fastest time on the second day of testing at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit
Having sealed the 2013 world title at the same track on Sunday the Spaniard was involved in testing for the first time this week and set the quickest time of one minute and 30.536 seconds.The Repsol Honda rider used three bikes including two prototypes and completed nearly 150 laps between them.
Jorge Lorenzo was the quickest with a time of 1:31.257 and the Spaniard went even faster on Tuesday with a time of 1:30.768. Marquez’s team mates, Dani Pedrosa was third fastest with the Spanish rider’s best time being 0.4 of a second slower than his younger compatriot.
Valentino Rossi failed to improve HIS timings and the Italian finished seventh, 0.878 of a second behind the pace. American Nicky Hayden finished 13th on his first day with his new team Power Electronics Aspar, clocking a time which was 2.04 seconds slower than Marquez.
Aleix Espargaro of Spain worked with his new team NGM Mobile Forward Racing and could only finish 15th. Espargaro’s team mate Colin Edwards of the United States was two places behind in 17th and both of their quickest times were more than two seconds behind Marquez.
