UNP Parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa says that a situation has arisen, where 1.6 million Samurdhi beneficiaries are not receiving their compulsory savings.

“According information from the Auditor General’s Department Samurdhi beneficiaries are due an unpaid sum of 1387 milion. The compulsory savings for 2012, amounting to 10 million rupees, was allocated for media briefings and duty assumptions. According to the Auditor General’s Department, a sum of 241 million rupees from the compulsory savings, was spent in 2012, to construct buildings.”
