The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment notes that Sri Lankan migrants living in Saudi Arabia illegally are being arrested on a daily basis following the conclusion of the amnesty period announced by Saudi authorities.
Deputy Director General of the Buraeu, spokesperson, Mangala Randeniya said that Saudi security forces have commenced conducting raids to locate illegal immigrants.
Accordingly, necessary steps have been taken to direct welfare officers to prisons and detention centres housing illegal migrants, to look into the plight of arrested Sri Lankans.
