Schools in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Closed as Heavy Rains Persist

COLOMBO (News 1st): Due to the prevailing heavy rainy weather, all schools in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts have been granted a holiday today.

This decision was taken on the instructions of the Chief Secretary of the Central Province.

Meanwhile, in the face of the heavy rainy weather, it has been decided to temporarily suspend academic activities at the University of Peradeniya until further notice starting yesterday.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Terrence Madhujith, stated that students who can safely return to their hometowns are free to leave.

The Vice-Chancellor also mentioned that other students may remain in the university hostels.
