COLOMBO (News 1st): 17 people have died from dengue so far this year.
Dr. Prashila Samaraweera, Community Physician at the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU), stated that among the deceased are two young children, aged nine and two and a half years.
As of today, the number of dengue cases reported this year stands at 32,071.
Meanwhile, with the prevailing rainy weather, the National Dengue Control Unit has decided to implement a three-day special mosquito control program.
Accordingly, the mosquito control program will be carried out on June 8, 9, and 10 in high-risk dengue areas.
This mosquito control program will be implemented in the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Kandy, Ratnapura, Kegalle, and Batticaloa districts, as well as within the Kalmunai Medical Officer of Health (MOH) division.
