Two Forests To Be Declared As Reserves During Walk For Peace In The Island Of Peace

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two forests will be declared as reserves today in connection with the Walk for Peace in the Island of Peace.

It is planned to present this to Venerable Pannyakara Thero of Vietnam and other dignitaries taking part in the Walk for Peace in the Island of Peace through a Sannas Patra, or official declaration.

The two forests, Nagahamulayaya in the Matale District and Padavigampola in Kegalle, will be declared as reserves in this way.

Minister of Environment Dr. Dhammika Patabendi said that the Sannas Patra, or official declaration, will be handed over when the Walk for Peace in the Island of Peace reaches the Beligammana Rajamaha Viharaya in Kegalle this afternoon.

Today is the third day of the Walk for Peace in the Island of Peace.

The walk, which starts from the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, will end today at the Beligammana Rajamaha Viharaya in Kegalle.

Venerable Pannakara Thero of Vietnam and the Maha Sangha are walking 25 kilometers today to draw the world’s attention to peace.
