Special Transport Services In place for Commuters Returning to Colombo After New Year

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Special transport services remain operational today for the public returning to Colombo after traveling to their hometowns for the New Year.

The National Transport Commission (NTC) stated that additional bus services have been allocated, particularly for expressways, as a high volume of commuters is expected throughout the weekend and tomorrow.

Director General of NTC, Nilan Miranda confirmed that special services are operating from regions including Monaragala, Embilipitiya, Badulla, Bandarawela, and Nuwara Eliya.

Meanwhile, the Department of Railways has deployed several special train runs today to facilitate the return journey as well. 

These special train will be running to Colombo from Anuradhapura, Kankesanthurai, Matara, and Beliatta areas.
