Beware! Fraudsters Use SriLankan Airlines Branding in New Online Scam

COLOMBO (News 1st); SriLankan Airlines has issued an urgent warning to the public after a fraudulent message, falsely using the national carrier’s name and branding, began circulating widely on WhatsApp and Facebook.

According to the airline, the fake promotion includes the company’s logo and convincing imagery, misleading users into believing it is an official offer. The message reportedly encourages individuals to click suspicious links and share personal information.

In a public advisory, SriLankan Airlines confirmed that the circulating offer is a scam and emphasized that the airline does not request personal details or payments through WhatsApp, Facebook, or any other social media platforms.

The statement further urged the public not to click on unfamiliar links and not to share sensitive information such as NIC numbers, passport details, one-time passwords (OTPs), or card information with unverified sources.

SriLankan Airlines reminded customers that all genuine offers, promotions, and communications will only be shared through official channels including its hotline, website, mobile app, and verified social media pages.

The airline encouraged the public to remain vigilant, stressing the importance of verifying authenticity before engaging with online promotions claiming to be from SriLankan Airlines.
