Shehbaz Sharif Speaks to AKD, Pledges Support for Sri Lanka's Disaster Recovery

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, which claimed lives and destroyed property across the island.

In a message posted on X, Sharif revealed that he spoke with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to convey condolences and assure support.

"I conveyed my deepest sorrow over the tragic loss of life and property due to the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka. I extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and commended the swift and courageous efforts of Sri Lankan authorities and rescue teams in these extremely difficult conditions," Sharif stated.

He emphasized Pakistan’s enduring friendship with Sri Lanka, describing the two nations as “neighbors and brotherly countries”, and announced that urgent humanitarian assistance is being dispatched immediately, with a pledge to continue helping as Sri Lanka recovers from the calamity.
