Students Relocated to Safe Shelters as UoP Faces Water and Power Outages

COLOMBO (News 1st); Vice-Chancellor Prof. Terrence Madhujith of the University of Peradeniya said that Four hostels around the Local river have been evacuated, and all students have been moved to safe shelters. Students are safe, and no lives have been endangered.

However, water and electricity supply have been completely cut off, and telecommunication services are down. Limited drinking water has also affected the food supply. Many food packets have been received, and authorities are managing the situation.

The Vice-Chancellor urges the parents of students to remain calm and assured that all students are safe.
