COLOMBO (News 1st);Ajith P. Perera of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya clarified today that MP Rohini Kavirathna’s opposition to the budget proposal to provide a Rs. 200 allowance to plantation workers was her personal view, and not the official stance of the party.

He says that her actions—filing complaints with the Bribery Commission, the National Procurement Commission, and the Auditor General—were done independently, according to her own perspective, and does not reflect the party’s opinion.

SJB MP Ajith P. Perera also added that the party fully supports raising wages to ensure plantation workers’ minimum living standards, whether through government, private, or joint efforts.

He clarified that MP Rohini Kavirathna’s complaint to the Bribery Commission was her personal action; she abstained from voting and her view does not reflect the party’s position.
