Organized Crime Trio Fled To India By Boat

COLOMBO (News 1st); Authorities have revealed that three Sri Lankan nationals deported from India for their involvement in organized crime had fled the country using a boat.

According to police, the suspects initially escaped aboard a Sri Lankan vessel before transferring to an Indian boat mid-route.

The trio was apprehended yesterday at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake upon arrival in Sri Lanka.

The Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) confirmed that the suspects are currently being held for questioning under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

Police further stated that the individuals are believed to be connected to recent weapons discoveries in Vavuniya and Kiribathgoda.
