Weligama PS Chairman Dies After Targeted Attack

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, Lasantha Wickramasekara, also known as Midigama Lasa, has died following a shooting incident that occurred this (22) morning while he was at the Pradeshiya Sabha premises.

According to police reports, two individuals arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at the Chairman before fleeing the scene.

Wickramasekara was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.

Wickramasekara was elected Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) following the recent local government elections.
