Deadly Downpour: Three Killed, Thousands Affected in 12 Districts

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The ongoing extreme weather conditions have claimed the lives of three individuals and affected 9,392 people across 12 districts, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).

The DMC reports that 377 houses have sustained partial damage due to heavy rainfall and related incidents. 

A special relief operation has been launched to support those impacted by the adverse weather.

Meanwhile, landslide warnings remain in effect across 11 districts, including Galle, Matara, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Badulla, Colombo, Kurunegala, Matale, and Nuwara Eliya. 

Several Divisional Secretariat divisions within these districts have been identified as high-risk zones.
