COLOMBO (News 1st) - A fire broke out yesterday at a timber warehouse in the Potupitiya area of Wadduwa, causing significant damage to stored lumber but resulting in no injuries or loss of life.
The blaze erupted at a facility used for timber storage in Galkatiyagoda and was brought under control within approximately two hours.
Two fire engines from the Kalutara Fire Brigade, assisted by area residents, worked together to contain the flames and prevent further spread.
While the cause of the fire remains unknown, authorities have confirmed that a large quantity of processed timber was destroyed in the incident.
Investigations are underway to determine the origin of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
