COLOMBO (News 1st); Police say that Ishara Sewwandi, the main suspect in the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa, along with several others, will be brought back to Sri Lanka tomorrow.

Ishara Sewwandi and six others were arrested in Nepal.

The arrests were made during a special joint operation conducted by Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala and CID Inspector Gihan Chandima, in collaboration with Nepalese security forces.

Kennedy Bastian Pillai, also known as J.K. Bai, a known organized criminal, was the first to be arrested in the Bhaktapur area of Nepal, according to police.

Based on information obtained from him, police were able to apprehend Ishara Sewwandi.

She had been staying in an apartment located about 18 kilometers from Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital.

The other four suspects were arrested at different locations.

Two of the suspects are residents of Gampaha and Nugegoda.

Police also confirmed that a couple from Jaffna was among those arrested.

The murder of Sanjeewa Kumara Samararatne, also known as "Ganemulle Sanjeewa", took place on February 19 inside Courtroom No. 5 of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Investigations revealed that the firearm used in the shooting was provided by suspect Ishara Sewwandi.

She fled the scene with the shooter on the same day.

The alleged shooter, Samindu Dilshan, was arrested later that afternoon.

Despite extensive search operations across the country, Ishara Sewwandi remained at large.

These operations were carried out with the involvement of the Colombo Crimes Division, the Special Task Force, and other security agencies.

It was later discovered that Ishara Sewwandi had fled the country with the assistance of J.K. Bai.
