Ex-Police Chief Deshabandu Remanded Until August 27

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon has been remanded until August 27 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court in connection with the violent crackdown on peaceful protesters at Galle Face Green on May 9, 2022.

Tennakoon was arrested by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at his residence in Mirihana on August 20, following a court order rejecting his anticipatory bail application.
