COLOMBO (News 1st) - A three-month grace period has been granted for the enforcement of the seatbelt rule for all passengers travelling on expressways in public transport vehicles that are currently not equipped with seatbelts.
Chairman of the National Council for Road Safety Sri Lanka, Manjula Kularatne, says that this grace period has been provided to allow time for the installation of seatbelts in such vehicles.
Once the grace period ends, all passengers in public transport will be required to wear seatbelts while travelling on expressways, as part of new safety regulations.
