Navy Detains 7 Indian Fishermen For Illegal Fishing North Of Mannar

COLOMBO (News 1st):even Indian fishermen engaged in illegal fishing in the Sea of Sri Lanka north of Mannar have been taken into custody by the Navy.

An Indian fishing vessel involved in the activity was also seized.

The Navy continues to conduct operations to prevent foreign vessels from violating Sri Lanka’s maritime boundaries and to protect the local fishing community’s livelihood.

 The Navy confirmed that the detained fishermen and their vessel have been handed over to the Mannar Fisheries Inspectorate for further investigation.
