Pac-Man World 2 is getting the remake treatment 23 years after its initial release in 2002, with the updated version titled PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC. The announcement of a new Pac-Man game was included as part of the latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, which featured a variety of exciting announcements about upcoming releases for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Pac-Man World 2 is a sequel to 1999’s Pac-Man World, which was similarly given the remake treatment back in 2022. In addition to updated visuals and 4K resolution support at 60fps, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC included a host of gameplay improvements and rebalancing efforts, along with reworked boss battles and a redesigned HUD. PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC received favorable reviews at launch, with the game currently sitting at a 71 on OpenCritic.
PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC was announced by Bandai Namco during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase on July 31, and is described as a “full remake of the beloved classic.” PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC will offer new and enhanced gameplay, voice acting for each character, new collectibles, and customization options. The game will also see the inclusion of a two-player couch co-op mode for the first time in the history of the Pac-Man World series.
PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC has been given a release date of September 26, 2025, for platforms including Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Digital pre-orders are currently live, with two options to choose from: Digital Standard and Digital Deluxe, which includes the Collaboration DLC Set. As an added bonus, players who own the 2022 remake PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC will be able to unlock an exclusive in-game costume for TOC-MAN — the antagonist of the Pac-Man World series — once the sequel launches.
