COLOMBO (News 1st); Environment Minister Dr. Dhammika Patabendi has revealed disturbing reports concerning 21 wild elephants that have been shot in various locations.
According to the Minister, the majority of these elephants were shot below the knee, raising suspicions of a coordinated and deliberate pattern.
Dr. Dhammika Patabendi stated that the nature of the injuries suggests the possibility of an organized operation targeting these animals, rather than isolated incidents.
In response, the Minister has officially lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police, requesting a thorough investigation and appropriate action regarding the shootings.
On Tuesday (22), the minister raised serious concerns over the recent wave of elephant killings, suggesting that the incidents may be part of a broader political conspiracy aimed at undermining environmental protection efforts.
