2000+ Bribery and Corruption Complaints This Year

Over 2,000 Bribery and Corruption Complaints Filed in Five Months

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has revealed that it received a total of 2,138 complaints related to bribery and corruption between January 1 and May 31 this year.

Out of these, 1,583 complaints were formally submitted to the commission’s inquiry committee for further investigation.

During the same period, CIABOC conducted 44 raids, resulting in the arrest of 31 suspects. 

Among those arrested were eight police officers.

In addition to these actions, the commission filed 42 cases in the High Court over the past six months. These cases involve allegations of bribery, corruption, failure to declare assets, and illicit enrichment.

A total of 45 individuals have been indicted during this period.
