Three-Day Detention for Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Ami Upul

COLOMBO (News 1st); Court has granted permission to detain for three days, a suspect who was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man known as Ami Upul in Batuwatta, Ragama. 

The individual, who was allegedly riding the motorcycle used in the incident, was arrested by officers from the Kelaniya Division Criminal Investigation Bureau.

The arrest took place recently in Vijitha Mawatha, Ragama, where the suspect was found in possession of the motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime, along with 50 grams and 600 milligrams of heroin.

The suspect was produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court this morning, where the court granted permission for him to be held in custody for three days for further questioning.

Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
