Ex-SriLankan Airlines Chairman Released on Bail

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Chief Magistrate Tanuja Lakmali Jayatunga today (15) ordered to release on bail of Anthony Nishantha Wickramasinghe, the former Chairman of SriLankan Airlines, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission in connection with corruption allegations.

The suspect was released on a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and two personal sureties of Rs. 5 million each.

As part of the bail conditions, the magistrate imposed a foreign travel ban and ordered Wickramasinghe to surrender his passport to the court.

During the hearing, officials representing the Bribery Commission informed the court that investigations into the matter were nearing completion and requested appropriate judicial orders regarding the suspect.

After reviewing the submissions, the magistrate granted bail and scheduled the next hearing of the case.
