Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake Remanded Until May 29

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake has been ordered to be remanded until May 29 by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court today.

This follows his arrest in connection with the discovery of a gold-plated T-56 assault rifle at a housing complex in Wellawatte. 

The former Minister was taken into custody by officers of the Terrorism Investigation Division yesterday morning while he was staying at a luxury apartment complex in Thimbirigasyaya.

Accordingly, the suspect was presented before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court today at noon by the investigating officers.

During the hearing, the officers informed the court that the suspect was arrested under Section 43 of the Firearms Ordinance in relation to the incident and submitted an investigation report.

As further investigations are still ongoing, the officers requested the court to remand the suspect.
