Namal Rajapaksa’s Rs. 70M Misuse Case Moves Forward

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo High Court has scheduled the pre-trial conference in the high-profile corruption case against Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa for June 27, 2025. 

The case involves allegations of misappropriating Rs. 70 million in the infamous Krrish deal.

The decision was made today by High Court Judge Pradeep Abeyratne, following a previous indictment filed by the Attorney General’s Department. 

The charges allege that Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, engaged in fraudulent use of funds intended for sports development.

The case was initially brought to light through investigations conducted by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID), which reported the matter to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court. 

Rajapaksa was previously arrested and later released on bail.
