Deshabandu To Face Inquiry Committee Today

COLOMBO (News 1st); Suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon is scheduled to appear today before the special committee appointed to inquire into allegations of misconduct and gross abuse of power of his office.

According to the Parliamentary Communications Department, Tennakoon is expected to appear before the committee at 2:00 PM.

The investigation is being conducted under the provisions of the Removal of Public Officers (Procedure) Act No. 5 of 2002, following allegations made against the IGP regarding the improper exercise of his official powers.

The committee, is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Preethi Padman Surasena and includes former Court of Appeal Judge Neil Iddawela and Chairman of the National Police Commission Lalith Ekanayake.
