Suspect Arrested in Connection with Mount Lavinia Shooting Incident

Colombo (News 1st); Police confirmed a suspect involved in a fatal shooting incident at a junction off Sylvester Road in Mount Lavinia has been arrested.

The suspect, a 45-year-old resident of Pannipitiya, Makumbura, was apprehended by a team from the Mount Lavinia Division Criminal Investigation Unit while in the Makumbura area.

According to police, the suspect was believed to have arrived on a motorcycle at the scene of the shooting. Parts of the motorcycle and two fake number plates were later discovered behind his residence during a search operation.

The shooting occurred on the 5th of this month, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old youth who was employed by the municipal council and a resident of Dehiwala.

Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Mount Lavinia Division Criminal Investigation Unit in collaboration with Mount Lavinia Police.
