TID Probes Harak Kata's Bribery Allegation

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) has initiated a special investigation into serious allegations made by notorious underworld figure Nadun Chinthaka Wickremeratne, widely known as 'Harak Kata'.

The probe follows a public statement made by Wickremeratne on May 14, while being escorted from the Colombo Court Complex. 

He claimed that he is being unlawfully detained at Tangalle Prison after refusing to pay a bribe of Rs. 300 million allegedly demanded by former Public Security Minister Tiran Alles and suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.
