National Vesak Festival in Nuwara Eliya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Vesak Festival for 2025 commenced in Nuwara Eliya.

It will continue until the 16th of May. 

This year’s National Vesak Week is celebrated under the theme, “Let's associate with noble people with good qualities.” 

As part of the festivities, the Public Health Inspectors Union Sri Lanka announced that 8,712 Dansals have been registered islandwide. 

The Union has emphasized the importance of ensuring all Dansals maintain proper health and safety standards. 

2,500 Public Health Inspectors have been deployed across the country for this.

Additionally, the Excise Department said that all liquor stores and meat outlets will be closed for three days.

In line with the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, prison inmates have been granted a special opportunity to meet with visitors today and tomorrow.
