COLOMBO (News 1st); Six students from the Faculty of Technology at Sabaragamuwa University have been remanded until May 16 in connection with the sudden death of a second-year undergraduate.
These students were arrested on Monday (5), and Tuesday (6).
The arrests, made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), bring the total number of students taken into custody to ten.
The incident has sparked widespread concern over ragging and student safety in Sri Lankan universities.
The CID is leading the investigation, with multiple agencies working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the student’s death and determine the level of involvement of those arrested.
