Court Dismisses Duminda's Petition on Party Activity

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo District Court dismissed the petition filed by Acting General Secretary of the SLFP, Duminda Dissanayake, seeking an order to prevent any obstruction from engaging in party activity.

Duminda Dissanayake filed the application with court, seeking an order to prevent any obstruction being made towards him, and the Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva, from engaging in party activity.

Following lenghty deliberations on Wednesday (15), the order to dismiss the application was delivered on Thursday (15) morning.

Delivering the order, Colombo Chief District Judge Sandun Vithana noted that the petitioner can file an amended application with regard to the request that was made.

President's Counsel Dr. Romesh De Silva, appearing for Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, a respondent in the application, filed preliminary objections, which were accepted by the court.
