COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Transport Board reports a daily financial loss exceeding 10 million rupees due to fraudulent conduct by its conductors.

According to Panduka Swarnahansa, Deputy General Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, this loss is primarily attributed to ticket fraud committed by bus conductors.

The situation has arisen as bus conductors are failing to issue tickets for long journeys.

He added that, as a consequence, approximately 30 conductors per week will face temporary work suspensions.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board operates 107 depots across Sri Lanka, employing 7300 conductors and 7600 drivers.
