Railway Unions Announce 24-Hour Token Strike Over Salary Cuts

COLOMBO (News 1st); Several railway unions have declared their intention to stage a 24-hour token strike beginning at 12 midnight today. 

The strike is in protest against reductions in their salaries.

The unions are voicing their strong objection to the salary cuts imposed by the authorities.

The strike will witness the participation of railway controllers, drivers, and supervisory officers.

Despite engaging in discussions with the relevant authorities, the unions have not received a satisfactory response to their concerns, said K. D. Prasad, Secretary of one of the unions.

The strike is expected to disrupt rail services across the country during the specified 24-hour period.
