Kidney Sale for Drugs: Suspect Remanded in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); A shocking case of organ trafficking has come to light in Sri Lanka, with a 32-year-old man from the Kathankudi area being arrested for allegedly selling his kidney to purchase drugs.

The suspect, whose name has not been released by authorities, was produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate's Court and remanded in custody. 

Adding a further layer of complexity to the case, police revealed that the suspect was also found in possession of ice, a highly addictive methamphetamine. 

According to police reports, the suspect had sold his kidney in Colombo sometime ago.
