Former Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama granted bail

COLOMBO (News 1st); Court today ordered the release of former Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama on bail.

He was remanded in connection with a case filed over the possession of a vehicle assembled with illegally imported parts and with a forged number plate.

When the case was called before Galle Chief Magistrate Isuru Netticumara on Wednesday (27), he ordered Muthuhettigama to be released on a cash bail of Rs.50,000 and two surety bails of Rs.5 million each.

Sri Lanka Police reported to court that no document was submitted to the Commissioner of Motor Traffic when registering the vehicle.

Sri Lanka Police revealed in court that although he was notified on several occasions to provide the documents, if any, they have not been presented to the Police or to the court thus far.
