COLOMBO (News 1st); The 115th birth anniversary of Japanese philanthropist Takiko Yoshida who rendered a great service to Sri Lanka's preschool education, was marked on Wednesday (16) at the Sapugaskanda Yoshida International School.

The President had also issued a message to mark the occasion, and it was delivered by the Principal of Yoshida International School, Brigadier Udaya Ariyaratne.

The President in his message had said that the Japanese philanthropist Takiko Yoshida's name is a landmark in Sri Lankan history as a distinguished social worker and a remarkable philanthropist.

The message also noted that in recognition of her great service to our country Takiko Yoshida was presented with the Sri Lanka Ranjana Honorary Title.

Programs were also organized in Japan for Takiko Yoshida's 115th birth anniversary.
