Dry spell batters almost 100,000 Sri Lankans

COLOMBO (News 1st); Arid weather conditions have affected multiple localities across Sri Lanka, and the Disaster Management Center said that 97,579 people from 30,155 families have been affected. 

Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Center reported that the Ratnapura, Trincomalee, Puttlam, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaithivu and Badulla districts were the worst affected by arid weather conditions.

The dry spell had severely impacted 69,113 people in the Jaffna District.
