COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Urban Development Authority has announced the initiation of a feasibility study for the relocation of administrative buildings, including the Colombo President's House, to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte .
Nimesh Herath, Chairman of the Urban Development Authority, revealed that the President's Office, Prime Minister's Office, Temple Trees, Cabinet Secretary's Office, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are also being considered for relocation to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. Security status reports are being taken into account during the planning process, ensuring the safety of the administrative buildings.
Furthermore, this program aims to revitalize ancient buildings in Colombo with commercial value, transforming them into tourist attractions. The Chairman of the Urban Development Authority added that several discussions have taken place with relevant authorities, including the President, in order to progress this endeavor.
