COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition legislators in Sri Lanka, including opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, were not pleased in Parliament on Friday (9) when the Deputy Speaker kept on saying 'Thank You' in Sinhala to questions that were directly at him.
A heated exchange broke out in Parliament over the Organic Fertilizer Shipment from China, and Nano Nitrogen Fertilizer from India.
Sajith Premadasa, the country's Opposition Leader slammed the government for incurring a loss of over Rs. 7 Billion by paying a high price for the nano-nitrogen liquid fertilizer that was obtained from Gujarat, India through the Indian Farmer Fertilizer Corporation, as well as the loss of USD 6.9 Million for Organic Fertilizer from China that never reached Sri Lanka's shores.
Opposition MPs alleged that the government was not providing a proper response to their questions, and also blamed the speaker for repeatedly stating 'Thank You' while their comments were being made.
