COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Minister of Power and Energy said that the India-Sri Lanka grid connection will be implemented by 2030.

"Regional energy integration has been discussed for more than two decades & the Govt has made it a priority to implement the India-Sri Lanka grid connection by 2030," tweeted Minister Kanchana Wijesekera.

He said the World Bank has been assisting the Ceylon Electricity Board to understand the technical requirements & business models to implement the project. 

He said he discussed the plans related to energy integration & renewable energy development with Workd Bank’s Director of Regional Integration, Cecile Fruman & Country Manager, Chiyo Kanda.
