COLOMBO (News 1st) – Liyana Saman Kumara Mendis, also known as Kalupe Duminda, has been apprehended by the Police Special Task Force. The suspect, who was wanted for his alleged involvement in three murder cases, was captured during a raid conducted in Gonapinuala, Udahamulla.

During the operation, law enforcement authorities successfully seized a firearm found in his possession. The Police Special Task Force had acted on received information regarding the suspect's whereabouts.

The accused is believed to have been responsible for the attack on a tourist restaurant in Hikkaduwa, as well as the shootings that took place in Metiyagoda and Hikkaduwa, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Furthermore, it is alleged that he was in possession of a substantial quantity of live T-56 ammunition, amounting to 2,758 bullets, in Siambalanduwa
