COLOMBO (News 1st) – A 19-year-old school student sustained injuries and a pet dog was killed in a shooting incident involving the police, in Abadeniya Gampola. According to authorities, the police officers had received information about the possession of illegal liquor at the house and had planned to conduct an inspection.

During the incident, the dog inside the house allegedly attempted to attack the officers, leading them to fire shots in the air as a means to subdue it. Two officers were bitten by the dog during the confrontation. The dog was ultimately shot and killed, while a school child in the vicinity was also injured as a result of the gunfire.

Currently, both the injured school child and the police officers are receiving treatment at Gampola hospital.
