Several schools closed due to extreme weather

COLOMBO (News 1st); Several schools in the Deniyaya and Mulatiyana education zones remain closed on Monday (15).

Secretary of Education for the Southern Province Ranjith Yapa said schools were closed due to the risk of floods and landslides.

10 schools in the Mulatiyana Education Zone remain closed on Monday (15).

All schools in the Deniyaya Education Zone apart from Urubokka National School and Percy Abeywardana Junior School in Pattigala also remain closed.

Ranjith Yapa said several schools in the Southern Province have been damaged due to floods and landslides.
