Loreen from Sweden won the Eurovision Song Contest for the second time with her song "Tattoo."

She is the second person and the first woman to achieve this feat, following Ireland's Johnny Logan.

Finland's Käärijä was runner-up with "Cha Cha Cha" while Israel's Noa Kirel came in third.

Sweden's victory means they will host next year's competition, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Abba's iconic win in 1974 with "Waterloo."

Ireland faced disappointment as they failed to qualify for the final for the fifth consecutive year.

Liverpool hosted this year's contest on behalf of Ukraine, which won in 2022.

The show began with last year's winners, Kalush Orchestra, performing an extended version of their song "Stefania" in a pre-taped segment from Kyiv.

The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual international song competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union.

It has been held since 1956, making it one of the longest-running televised music competitions in the world.
