COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has instructed to take necessary action against those who are disrupting the distribution of fuel.
He said he instructed the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals LTD to take necessary disciplinary steps to consider termination of employment & any legal steps necessary against trade union activist or employees that are disrupting the distribution of fuel, disrupting the work of other employees or is acting in violation of the essential services orders.
The statement from the Minister came after the Petroleum Joint Trade Unions decided to suspend operations from Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals LTD.
Petroleum Trade Unions launched a Sathyagraha Campaign against attempts to privatize the CPC, and on Tuesday (28) evening it extended to an all-out strike.
